Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa” will for the first time show case her tourism diversity at the “FITUR”- an International Tourism Trade Fair due to take place in Madrid (Spain) from the 20th to the 24th of January 2010. “FITUR” will be celebrating 30 years of existence therefore expecting a large audience of tourists, exhibitors and tourism representatives from all over the world. This will present a great opportunity for Uganda to introduce and market her tourism potential to the world.

Uganda Tourist Board has managed to secure a 70sq M space for her exhibitors. This is seen as a great achievement for Uganda’s tourism development considering Uganda has always had only 4 tour operators present and participating as individuals at previous FITUR events. Having a big exhibition space Uganda has a big chance of involving many Uganda tour companies who would like to market their companies and products to a wider world audience.

Uganda will have a total of 18 participants at the exhibition and these include the organisations/companies listed below.

 Uganda Tourist Board / Tourism Uganda
 Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry – MTTI.
 Destination Jungle
 Crystal Safaris
 Churchill Safaris
 Great Lakes Safaris
 Atlas Safaris Uganda Limited
 Gorilla Tours
 Acacia Safaris
 Bahr El Jebel Safaris Limited
 Adventure Natural African Safaris Uganda Limited
 Amazing Safaris
 Prima- Green Safaris & Tours Uganda
 Abacus African Vacations
 Lake Kitandara Tours & Travel
 Ranaka Agencies Arts & Crafts
 Asyanut Safaris
 Bunyonyi Safaris

One of Uganda’s highlights will be the promotion of the 2009 “Year of the Gorilla” linked to the “friend a Gorilla” campaign recently celebrated in Uganda at Serena hotel where Jason Biggs, Kristy Wu and Rosie Montene (American Hollywood celebrities) were the campaign’s head celebrity guests. This campaign highlighted Uganda as indeed the home of Mountain Gorillas.
